Stage 1: Early Crashes and Injuries
The first stage witnessed an early crash involving Jardi Christiaan van der Lee, Oliver Stockwell, Pietro Mattio, and Michael Leonard. Later in the stage, Max van der Meulen and Marius Mayrhofer also crashed, with Mayrhofer sustaining fractures to his right collarbone, shoulder blade, and ribs. Tudor, commenting on Mayrhofer's condition, mentioned his upcoming rehabilitation journey, starting with physiotherapy.
Stage 2 and 3: More Crashes and Withdrawals
In Stage 2, Lennert van Eetvelt and Jonas Rutsch of Intermarché - Lotto were involved in a crash. The following day, both riders failed to start Stage 3 due to their injuries from the previous stage.
Additionally, a crash in the final kilometers of Stage 3 involved Liam Walsh, Adam Yates, Ivo Oliveira, James Knox, Casper van Uden, Jefferson Alxander Cepeda, Andreas Kron, and Anders Skaarseth.
Stage 4: Crashes and Heat Take Their Toll
Stage 4 saw the UAE Team Emirates - XRG lose both Jhonatan Narváez and Vegard Stake Laengen to crashes. Narváez, who was second in the overall classification at the start of the day, was taken to the hospital for a precautionary spinal and neurological assessment. He was diagnosed with stable thoracic vertebrae compression fractures, which do not require surgery at this time. He remains stable and will be kept in the hospital for further observation.
Laengen, who was also involved in a crash later in the stage, was taken to the hospital for assessment. He has a suspected rib injury but is stable and will be monitored over the coming days.
The stage was marked by multiple crashes and the severe heat, leading to the withdrawal of many riders. Groupama's Rémi Cavagna and Kevin Geniets, NSN's Corbin Strong and Jake Stewart, Antoine l'Hote, Danny van Poppel, Liam Walsh, and Jardi van der Lee all withdrew from the race.
