Nicole Lynn Allenbaugh, 32, of Piqua, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Kettering Health Center in Kettering, Ohio, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 28, 1993, in Greenville, Ohio, to Michael T. and Connie A. (Houshel) Apple.
Nicole graduated from Covington High School and the Upper Valley JVS in 2012, where she studied Environmental Occupations. Her early years were spent working on her family’s dairy farm, a time that taught her dedication, patience, and the importance of supporting loved ones. She later worked at the Miami County Park District and Home Depot, but found her true vocational home at A.M. Leonard, where she dedicated a decade of work. The colleagues she met there became close friends and an integral part of her daily life.
On June 14, 2014, she married Eric Allenbaugh. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless everyday moments that Nicole cherished. Above all, she treasured her marriage and their two children, Madeline “Maddie” and Mitchell, who were the joy of her life.
Nicole loved nature and shared many treasured memories with her children, teaching them to fish, swim, and appreciate the simple beauty of the outdoors. She enjoyed standing beside Eric on the farm, whether in the fields collecting interesting rocks with the kids, operating the grain cart, or helping run equipment. She carried a quiet strength and a gentle, caring spirit toward others. She didn’t seek attention, yet she made a lasting impact through kindness, hard work, and an overflowing love for family and friends.
Nicole is survived by her husband, Eric, and their two children, Madeline “Maddie” and Mitchell Allenbaugh. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother, Wanda F. (Huff) Apple; her maternal grandparents, John and Sandra (Link) Houshel; and her sisters, Kylie (Brandon) Bitzow, Jessica (Cameron Stittums) Apple, and Kristina (Michael Baker) Apple. Additionally, she leaves behind nieces and nephews Amaya, Jayla, Kaiser, Hank, Lillian, Elijah, Gavin, and Gunner, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, and friends who were beloved to her. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Nelson N. Apple; great-grandparents Henry W. and Ina P. Apple; maternal great-grandparents Edward and Helen Link; nephew Abel Yingst; and cousin Courtney McClelland.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, with Pastor Christine Mertz officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
