Weilong School: A Community-Centric Design by MENG YAN | URBANUS (2025)

The Weilong School, designed by MENG YAN | URBANUS, is a 73511 m² educational project located in Shenzhen, China. Completed in 2024, the school is a testament to the firm's commitment to community-centric architecture. The project's principal architects, Meng Yan and Wen Ting, along with a dedicated team, aimed to revitalize the local community culture. The proposal sought to integrate the new schools into the existing urban fabric while highlighting the cultural heritage of the area. By 'nourishing' the district's future, the design weaves a richer urban life and a more generous urban space. The project team included Sun Pengcheng, Huang Jiahong, Zhang Chaoxian, and a diverse group of professionals, each contributing to the unique character of the school. The interior development was handled by Nan Jing Shang Ze Design Co., Ltd., while the landscape design was crafted by Shenzhen Sen Shi Jie Landscape and Planning Co., Ltd. Concrete construction was executed by Wuhan Wanshan Qingshui Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., and interior and landscape construction was undertaken by Shi Dai Zhuang Shi Co., Ltd. The Weilong School is a shining example of how architecture can serve as a catalyst for community rejuvenation and cultural preservation.
